What the critics say

"One of the most enjoyable marriages of the fantasy and mystery genres on the shelves.” (Cinescape)

“Butcher...spins an excellent noirish detective yarn in a well-crafted, supernaturally-charged setting. The supporting cast is again fantastic, and Harry’s wit continues to fly in the face of a peril-fraught plot." (Booklist)

Badassery

Big mysterious plots, fairies, magic induced explosions, and its narrated by James Marsters. Enough said.

Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher

I loved this book so much. It really fleshed out the character of Charity Carpenter and explained the back story of her disdain for Harry Dresden. Holly Carpenter becomes a more central character as well. Harry's "family" is expanding and it makes him feel even more conflicted & guilty. Poor Harry is all banged up again by those supernatural beings who are striving for world domination (starting with Chicago).

Harry the Warden finds himself with a dilemma and he deals with it in his own quirky way. Love it!!!

Started slow but then... wow!

The book starts kind of slow for almost half of it... but the second half is really exciting!

1000 x yes!

A mystery, some mystical fire, plenty of creepy horror villains and a serious badass fallen angel throwing shade = Binge listening and love 💕 Bring on more Harry Dresden.

Great Story

Once again this was another excellent story of the series. Each book has built on the last and the story continues to grow.

My favourite book in the series

Incredible story and impeccably narrated. Marsters ability to create a voice for each character is impressive and spot on. Each voice evokes a mental image of the character associated. The story is one that helps solidify the character of Dresden in the series and is a turning point in the plot. Love it.

Great character development of Dresden

I really like the story, perhaps more specifically than the previous. while Dresden character has been slowely maturing I really felt like this was the book you can sort of pause at and realize how far he's come as a character from the place where he started at. he's becoming rougher and wiser and his role is maturing along with him. There is a very realistic, vivid feel to how he's changing. it's exactly how youth mature to adulthood, things which in youth are sharp and certain become worn away with time and experience. while simultaneously you realize what things In life are important, what things must be held onto and kept from being worn through. things like integrity can be traded for ego as an adult where a child is unwilling to act clearly.
anyways. while the book still holds its 'tropes' it's what makes it the 'dresden' series of know and love and I'm excited to continue following dresdens adventures, curious to see how much longer he can you the line and see how he falls, and if he falls how he redeems himself.
