About this listen

Bloomsbury presents The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas, read by Elizabeth Evans.

The twist of a knife. The birth of a legend.

Step into the world of the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas with this collection of prequel novellas.

Celaena Sardothien is her kingdom’s most feared assassin. Though she works for the powerful Assassin’s Guild and its scheming master, Arobynn Hamel, she yields to no one and trusts only her fellow killer-for-hire, Sam. But when Arobynn dispatches her on missions that take her from remote islands to hostile deserts, Celaena finds herself acting independently of his wishes and questioning her own allegiance.

If she hopes to escape Arobynn’s clutches, Celaena will have to put her faith in her wits and her blade . . . knowing that if she fails, she’ll lose not just a chance at freedom but her life.

A prequel to the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass, this collection of five novellas explores the history of this cunning assassin and her enthralling—and deadly—world.

Included in this volume:
The Assassin and the Pirate Lord
The Assassin and the Healer
The Assassin and the Desert
The Assassin and the Underworld
The Assassin and the Empire

Beginning of a great series

If you haven't read the other book may have spoilers in my review....

Wonderful, but hard read of beginnings of Celaena Sardothien . Before she took back her real name. The story of her falling in love with Sam and how she was betrayed by the King of Assassin's. Listened to it in One day. I couldn't stop it was really good.

so you have PTSD

learn about the trauma that made Celaena into the broken and lethal force of the gods she is. Flesh out the world we have grown to love before getting to the back half of our original adventure. Pirate's, Assassins, Giant horse sized spiders, witches, and so much trauma await

The missing beginning to an already very interesting character finally brought to life :)

The missing beginning to an already very interesting character finally brought to life :) you can see why her character is so broken and off putting going into the first book now.

read third and loved it!

I read it third as SJM suggests and it was perfect. gave more emotion and depth to the stories and characters, and had so many little easter eggs hidden throughout. performance as always was wonderful. I was worried it'd feel like a step back/break in the story reading it third but it only enhanced the rest of it and made rhings better as I already knew enough to be invested in the characters.

Excellent narration

A colorful and engaging start to a series, though the main character is painfully gullible for a kingdom's top assassin.

I will not be afraid

I don’t know how people can wait to read this. I read it first before the entire series. This is my second reread and I could not imagine not having this information going into the series. This story start to finish is incredible.

The love, loyalty, and heartbreak through the whole book

Loved the book. It was a bit slow to get into but once I was invested I couldn’t put the book down.

I love every Sarah j Maas book that I listen to. The narrator is fantastic. The story lines always draw you in. I can't wait to listen to the next book in this series.
