About this listen

The newly discovered novel from multi-million-selling author Joy Ellis. Never-before published!

THREE NICE PEOPLE. THREE TERRIBLE CRIMES. WHAT MADE THEM DO THESE AWFUL THINGS?

It’s the night shift worker who finds them. Huddled in a hospital store cupboard is elderly Edith Higgins. Knifed to death. Sitting behind her is Staff Nurse Lily Frampton, a scalpel clasped in her blood-soaked hand.

No one can understand why this kind-hearted, dedicated nurse would brutally murder a frail patient she’s spent months caring for.

That same day, mild-mannered schoolteacher Rod Black is found surrounded by the battered bodies of his pupils. Why would a well-respected teacher beat five schoolboys to death?

Then a third shocking — and equally inexplicable — incident takes place in a London homeless shelter.

Perfection

Thank you for writing this next episode! Lovely conclusion to the first one but having said that, and even knowing that you had decided on the police procedural as your choice of genre, I do hope you will write some more about Ellie McEwan and the wonderful cast of characters I have enjoyed getting to know. Always a pleasure to read anything by Joy Ellis. thank you again for writing this book!

Gripping and scary as heck!

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, especially as I could relate to the subject of auras. I can see them to some extent, more so in the past, and can attest to the validity of the descriptions. This book, was even more disturbing than the first book and kept me awake at night - not that I needed to be. The elements of horror, were intense and believable. This book is certainly not a cozy mystery, if that is what is desired. I also have a history of working as a counsellor and hypnotherapist, so the subject matter was right up my alley. Although there are some rather dated elements in both books, such as referring to the gardener as 'Scrubs', (a classist and outmoded way of referring to the 'lower classes' by their last name alone), the series stands up to the test of time. Please, please Joy Ellis, continue this series. The characters and the paranormal elements are wonderful and 'mixed genre' books are all the rage these days, even if they were frowned upon a couple of decades ago. Connecting with energies and the so-called afterlife, isn't considered too 'out there' these days and adds a dimension to detective fiction that elevates it beyond the gloom and gore.

Excellent book

Both books, The Aura of mystery and the Colour of Mystery, were wonderfully written. So different, yet a nice change from the author’s other books. I believe she stated these were her very first 2 books. I’m just hoping, she can continue to add to this series! I didn’t think I would enjoy a super natural twist. They are perfect in every way!
