About this listen

The Wandering Inn, Book 1, has been rewritten by pirateaba and re-recorded by Andrea Parsneau. This revised edition includes new scenes and perspectives.

"No killing Goblins."

So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours.

It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

In a dangerous world where magic is real and people can level up and gain classes, Erin Solstice must battle somewhat evil Goblins, deadly Rock Crabs, and hungry [Necromancers]. She is no warrior, no mage. Erin Solstice runs an inn. She's an [Innkeeper].

Torture Porn Isekai

I don't think I'm going to finish this. it's very well written and excellently performed, but there's a style of Isekai I really dislike where everything is hard and it's hard for a long, long time, and I don't enjoy that at all. The main character hurts her hand in one chapter, and the story stops for what feels like fifteen minutes as she and the narrator repeat the phrase "it hurts" over and over, with various other interjections talking about how it hurts. A few hours in and very little has happened begond the introduction of a few more characters. I can see that it's "world building" but it's so long, and everything is so awful for so long that I don't have it in me to stick it out. This was also meant to be lighthearted and fun, which it has not been so far. Maybe people with more patience would enjoy this better, but so far it's not for me.

Cute story

Cute story but the voicing of the main character is gratingly syrupy. Otherwise good story.

It was difficult to stop listening

Narrator was great and added so much to the story, which is a little slow paced but still keeps you wanting more. Great performance, great writing, and great emotion, all bound up in one package. But be warned, there's a lot of sadness and struggle to accompany the light-hearted entertainment and heart-rousing moments.

Awesome

I loved this book!
Took me a little to get into it but then I was sucked in. So much adventure and so many creatures.
The narrator is outstanding!

Just get it - worth it.

I typically have multiple books on the go at any given point and can power read through a story if it's not really grabbing my attention. With that background, I could not for the, life of me, read the story of the Wandering Inn. I just couldn't get into it and i love this genre. this This audible version on that other hand, I binged it in a week. I was hooked. Hooked enough that I'm Wandering if I buy more credits to get the next book in the series.

The performance was amazing and the character depth is unbelievably good - really sneaks up on you. I don't review very often, but this one deserves it. Cannot recommend enough.

Better than you think it will be

I was hesitant to get this book because of all the varied reviews. I love a good story and good characters. What's more, I've come to learn how great audiobooks are from my horrible experience in the past listening to an "Author read" audiobook. So I took a chance as I do like the genre, or even the overall fantasy genre, even if it's Urban Fantasy (Charles de Lint). I was quickly surprised at how good it was. I thought it would be lots of short stories...NO. It has set characters that it follows and soon you will be like me. As soon as one character's story arc stops you're yelling "NO! I want more!" But the story picks up where it left off and you get completely wrapped up in it. I honestly don't see why people have a hard time with this book. If you like good stories, great characters and oddly enough FANTASTIC voice acting, you'll love this! I will be completing the series.

buying book 4

I'm currently a few hours from finishing book 3 and I have already bought book 4. it takes a very simple concept and flipped it on its head. the strength of this series is definitely it's character, very vell written and complex characters.

Wonderful story and Narration

This is the best story I ever heard besides Harry Potter. Both story plot and Narration were overwhelmingly good.

Interesting but frustrating

while the story is interesting to a point, it's never really progresses at its core. there is a good amount of character development, but most of that time is wasted since many of those characters are no longer relevant by book's end. both of the main characters are interesting, but conveniently forgetful of important bits of information and rather inconsistent. many of their decisions and moments of stupidity are obvious plot devices or simply annoying. the overall concept is interesting, but the execution suggests future episodes of pointless character development and needless frustration.
