Publisher's Summary

Would you be prepared to work for free? How would you like to bust your hump for a large corporation 60-plus hours a week without a wage or a single day off for the vague promise of some mysterious perks in the distant future?

You'd refuse point blank, wouldn't you? But what if the job in question was playing a state-of-the-art fantasy MMORPG game? And what if this was the only thing you're really good at? Especially considering that your in-game partner is someone really special to you - and this person already lives a virtual life?

Knowing all this, would you consider the mysterious future bonus worth your while?

do not judge this book by its name

very well written and performed! honestly I have bypassed this title atleast 50 times in the past year because the name was kind of lame and by default expected the book itself to follow suit.I was pleasantly surprised to find quite the opposite within the pages this is amazing. highly recommended!

A great surprise!

I tried it, out of curiousity and was clearly taken away by the story! The characters are interesting, luck has a place, and the reader is doing an really great job!

Worth the read

The story was quite easy to follow.

The plot and story development weren't complicated or too intriguing in anyway. You could say that the story was slightly above average, or a better way to put it is - laid back.

The characters were also ok. I especially liked the interaction between siblings while in the game, especially in the early chapters. The ideology of the intelligence stat affecting the player's actual intelligence was also a weird but interesting thing to see. That chick with the Japanese name was weird though... her part in the first volume seemed... a bit forced if you ask me 👀.

The narrator's performance was a bit meh. But it isn't the worst I've seen, so it wasn't all that bad, since he did ok with the material he was given.

This novel does quite well as a placeholder/timekiller. Definitely not a must-read, but it doesn't have any glaring annoyances or frustration builders. Best of all, all the volumes are technically free. So there's nothing to lose in reading it 👀.

Overall, I give both the performance and story a 3/5. I would love to give them 3.8 rating, but the system on this platform is a bit too cut and dry. As for the price/satisfaction ratio, I would give the first volume 4.5/5 since...well, the entire novel is free, with membership.

Great Read

A very interesting read, I really wish games were more like this with freedom and diversity to explore multiple complex cultures of many deferent species. The best character is 100% the smart sister but the MC has his moments. It's always tricky to have a naive, sincere, bleeding heart main character but I believe the author did a great job all the same. The story got a little slow near the end but picked up again with the PARTY and the hook ending.

Good story

Was surprised by so many of how well written and the performance of the narrator. Recommend for sure.

The women in it are really badly written

I suspect the intended audience for this is heavily skewed towards guys. The amount of women aggressively throwing themselves at the main character (while he plays the 'nice guy') is enough that I feel like it should get mentioned somewhere in the synopsis. Couldn't finish the story after I got about half way through. Upside though, the story does pick up a bit after the initial slow start (a bit).

Some great ideas, women are poorly written

I liked the game and the world. Loved the protagonist’s motivation and the concept of finding bugs in the game for purposes of exploiting as a game tester. Great take on the genre.

I feel like the author did a very poor job of writing women in this book. Considering the whole book was 1 male protagonist surrounded by women, this was not great.
