About this listen

When Alice Love surfaces from a beautiful dream to find she's been injured in a gym, she knows that something is very wrong – she hates exercise. Alice's first concern is her baby – she's pregnant with her first child, and she's desperate to see her husband, Nick, whom she knows will be worried about her. But Alice isn't pregnant. And Nick isn't worried. Alice is the mother of three children and her hostile husband is in the process of divorcing her. Alice has lost ten years of her life.

In the days that follow, small bubbles of the past rise to the surface, and Alice is forced to confront uncomfortable truths. It turns out forgetting might be the most memorable thing that's ever happened to her.

loved it!

I love this author and the narrator who seems to have done all her books. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for the narration was the mouth sounds. I think this was an earlier production compared to the other titles I've listened to, and I can hear some spit swishing and clicks that weren't edited out. don't let it deter you though, it's still highly bingeable!

Great flow. Author has a real knack for touching on the simple details that make moments special and bringing words to life.

Edge of my seat to the very end!

First off, Caroline Lee . . . SUCH a wonderful reader. Totally made the story and characters come alive.

And what a story! What characters!

I discovered Liane Moriarty by chance a year ago--hadn't heard of her yet (so don't know where I was living? Under a rock?), but since then I've read and/or listened to the audio books for every one of her novels.

Hilarious, thought-provoking and occasionally tear-triggering, her insights into motherhood, sibling relationships, friendships, and long-term marriages always feel spot on to me.

I adore all of Moriarty's books and WHAT ALICE FORGOT is no exception. I loved it and I'm eagerly awaiting her next story, whatever it will be.

Absolutely Profound

100 percent recommend this book. It was so true to life in many ways, and made me reflect on my own marriage in a helpful way.

Narration was stunning and excellent.

Excellent

Just loved this book. Tore through it. So engaging. What would it feel like to lose a big chunk of your memories? Of your life? This was very well written and I loved all the different stories intertwining.

Ms. Moriarty Always Tells a Good Story

A good story, as I expected. Slow at times but still kept my interest. The narrator was good also.

Disappointed by the ending.

Most of this book was original, well written and enjoyable. Unfortunately, for me, the ending was a cop out; it just didn't seem reasonable that the character defined in the story would act that way.

Light and thought provoking

I really enjoyed What Alice Forgot. I've only read The Husband's Secret and Nine Perfect Strangers by Moriarty so far so I decided to give this a try, after reading the plot summary and thinking it sounded different from her other work.

This is definitely one of Moriarty's lighter reads. I wouldn't say the concept is completely original but it's done in such a warm and fun way! It really makes you think about the universe and the idea of fate. Near the end, I kind of thought the story dragged on and could've ended earlier, but it wasn't the end of the world.

Narration: At first I was a bit flustered by the narrator - it seemed like she was trying WAY too hard. And Alice's voice made her sound like a teenager rather than a 29 year old adult (this is me speaking as a 27 year old). THAT BEING SAID, Caroline Lee grew on me and the narration definitely got better. There were so many hilarious moments, especially when Lee was reading as characters like Tom and Madison.

Great listen!
