William Collinge, PhD, MPH, LCSW is a consultant, author, speaker and researcher in the field of integrative health care. He conducts a private practice of health-related psychotherapy and mind/body medicine in Eugene, Oregon, for individuals and couples facing the challenges of cancer and other serious illness. He has extensive experience supporting people with cancer, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue sydrome, HIV/AIDS, and other conditions, and has led workshops and retreats across North America, in Hawaii, New Zealand and the UK. William is an Affiliate Faculty member of the Oregon Health & Science University. In addition he directs research projects sponsored by the National Institutes of Health through Collinge and Associates. His latest book is Partners in Healing: Simple Ways to Offer Support, Comfort and Care to a Loved One Facing Illness (Shambhala, 2008). Collinge and Associates is an independent research and consulting organization funded by research grants from the National Institutes of Health and other sources to develop innovative approaches to benefiting public health. Current and past projects focus on integrating health-promoting behavior, complementary therapies, and educational programs for empowerment of individuals and families. These include the award-winning DVD program Touch, Caring and Cancer: Simple Instruction for Family and Friends, sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. Other studies have focused on fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, mind/body techniques, reintegration of soldiers and their loved ones after return from Iraq and Afghanistan, and community mental health. The work is conducted in collaboration with like-minded organizations at the community and national levels. Teams of experts from academia and the private sector are assembled for each project based on their unique expertise.
