À propos de cet audio
From acclaimed author Dr. Jason Fung, a revolutionary guide to reversing diabetes.
Dr. Jason Fung forever changed the way we think about obesity with his best-selling book, The Obesity Code. Now he has set out to do the same for type 2 diabetes.
Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease - a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this paradigm-shifting book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible. Writing with clear, persuasive language, he explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease. The only way to treat type 2 diabetes effectively, he argues, is proper dieting and intermittent fasting - not medication.

Current medical wisdom advises that anyone suffering from diabetes or prediabetes should eat a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet. But in this revolutionary audiobook, Cyrus Khambatta, PhD, and Robby Barbaro, MPH, rely on a century of research to show that advice is misguided. While it may improve short-term blood glucose control, such a diet also increases the long-term risk for chronic diseases like cancer, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chronic kidney disease, and fatty liver disease. The revolutionary solution is to eat a low-fat plant-based whole-food diet.

Before the discovery of insulin, diabetes was treated almost exclusively through diet, from subsistence on meat, to reliance on fats, to repeated fasting and near-starvation regimens. After two centuries of conflicting medical advice, most authorities today believe that those with diabetes can have the same dietary freedom enjoyed by the rest of us, leaving the job of controlling their disease to insulin therapy and other blood-sugar-lowering medications.

Our modern diet, high in low-quality carbohydrates, is damaging our bodies - producing a constant overload of sugar in our bloodstream that clogs up our arteries and piles hidden fat into our internal organs. The result has been a doubling in the number of type 2 diabetics,as well as a surge in those with a potentially hazardous condition - prediabetes. It is now known that even moderately elevated blood sugar levels can trigger heart disease, stroke, dementia, and cancer.

Should be required reading for anyone who eats food
Very eye opening. It answers a lot of questions. My doctor diagnosed me as pre-diabetic. I workout and eat well. I was kind of blindsided. I asked him why this happened. His answer was “nobody knows. It sometimes just happens”
This book explains in very simple detail how, why and even when. It gives me great hope. If you eat food, read this book!

Hope for better health
I have been pre-diabetic for at least 7 years and overweight for nearly 30 years. I tried all the diets and my weight has always rebounded. My blood pressure has also been creeping up for the past 2 years. I had tinkered with a low carb diet a few years ago, but the weight and other symptoms returned. This book (together with The Obesity Code) have helped me understand the root cause and have given me hope that I can reverse these conditions and be healthy into my later years. Thank you for writing it!

A Powerful Guide to Reversing Diabetes 2
I had been intermittent fasting for a while before I came across Dr. Fung’s work on You Tube. The information he provides in this book was eye opening. I used a continuous glucose monitor to test out his approach. I used to take 3-500 mg Metformin each day. I stopped taking Metformin while I did two consecutive 42 hour fasts and monitored my blood glucose. I saw my glucose levels coming down slowly over the fasting period. After the 2nd 42 hour fast, my glucose levels were normalized in the pre-diabetic levels. I switched to 17 hour intermittent fasting and my morning wake-up levels are below 5 mmol/l. It’s been a little over a week and I’m in remission. Knowledge is a powerful thing - I truly appreciate how Dr. Fung teaches complex biology concepts in easy to understand terms. This audio book changed my life- truly. Forever grateful 🙏🏽
