Publisher's Summary

A young woman must navigate the dangers of a strange new world filled with magic and mystery in this imaginative and highly detailed LitRPG adventure.

When Alice Verianna went to sleep, she was just another teen from the Denver suburbs. She definitely didn't expect to be transported to a magical alternate dimension, inhabited by monsters and presided over by a mysterious System. Here, people resemble RPG characters and everyone has access to their own status screens.

Grappling with the mechanics of the elusive System isn't the only challenge Alice faces. It seems an underground organization known as the Society of Starry Eyes has taken a particular interest in other dimensions. If they find out about Alice, they will stop at nothing to hunt her down and forcibly extract from her the secrets of her world.

Now, in addition to pursuing her own scientific endeavors, as well as learning to harness the magic that surrounds her, Alice must determine the Society's ultimate intention—and how she ended up here in first place. Before it's too late . . .

The first volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with almost two million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

endless monologue

while overall its good the endless monologue’s made me feel like putting my head through a wall. the other problem seemed that mc was so stuck on official scientific process that she fails to see wats in front of her at times. a good phrase for her would be cant see the forest for the trees. so she comes off as smart but a bit dense as well. after u get past that the overall tale isn’t too bad i guess.

Really interesting and not a stereotypical LitRPG

I was on the fence with this one due to reviews. I really like logical thinking and science. So I thought this was worth a try. If you were dropped in a LitRPG world with no respawn, would you fight all the monsters or find a safer way to live?

This isn’t a book where it’s all fighting and battles. She has them, in the beginning of the book she’s totally alone and fending for herself in the wild. But she is crafty and smart and tries to find ways to avoid most fights or finish monsters safely. She is SUPER intrigued with the magic system and the book is her integrating into the new magical world and learning about how it works.

In a world where most people are taking it for granted and not looking at the underlying facts that make it work. The world treats “the system” as a god. She wants to know if all the science from earth exists in this new world, or is everything she knew wrong now.

So there are big battles and overpowered immortals. But it’s at its heart a story about a curious girl trying to figure out her new world, learn as much as possible and survive in a strange new world.

Repetitive and slow

The story premise and plot are decent. Well written. the only issue is all the repetitive details that are constantly being reiterated at random intervals. I'm pretty sure 20% of this story is unnecessary restated information. and not a bit here or there, but in giant chunks, like a whole chapter just recapping stats that we just reviewed 10 min ago. it feels like there was a word count minimum and the writer realized they were going to be short, so they threw it in to make the word count jump up. completely slippable like a terrible commercial. could definitely do without
