I really enjoyed this book because it kept me guessing and in suspense and wondering

Interesting story

The Goldy Bear series are some of my favourite cozy mysteries. This story is great and the narration is top notch. The only thing that stops this book from being 5 stars across the board is the main character's son. I have no idea why our heroine lets her son treat her the way he does but it's absolutely MADDENING. His behaviour and her reaction pulls you out of the story because it's so unbelievable. Putting that aside though it's a great listen and well worth the credit.

Too many things about this book were not realistic; character development was poor and reactions to events were underplayed.

Not that satisfying

There’s a problem with bad language this book meaning very very concerning. Misuse of words. I couldn’t get past was when the old man that adopted a girl at age 3 it’s discovered he is having sex with her. I.e. raping her at age 16 and the narrator Goldie repeatedly comments that he must’ve seduced her using the word seduced is too vile and reprehensible to forgive. This is a book from 1990 not a book from the Middle Ages and even then everyone would likely know it is rape, and the protagonist should know that too… this is the worst, but the novel is filled with silly mistakes an ugly reference to black face as a joke and also just dumped things like the SAAB is crap and no one has room in it because Japanese people are tiny and they made the car well no it’s a Swedish company do some research. Also Japanese car makers made cars for the market.
