Publisher's Summary

Hey,

Over here.

No, look up.

Yeah, I’m the one they talk about. The headmaster’s prized possession, locked away in the bell tower of Notredame Parochial College. To most of the students, I was just a myth.

An urban legend.

The girl who rings the bells up in the tower, the one who talks to gargoyles.

Frollo’s secret.

Then they showed up, those heathens. Outcasts, just like me. But these men aren’t just dangerous, they’re heartless. They won’t abide or bend to the rules of this deranged school and the secrets it keeps from the world.

Now that they’ve found me, they may never let me go. And maybe I wouldn’t want them to....

Heartless Heathens is a dark why-choose gothic romance loosely inspired from major points of Victor Hugo's Notre Dame de Paris. This is not a retelling, it is not a fractured fairy tale. This story does not involve any characters of Romani descent. The female main character will not choose between the love interests in this story.

This is a corruption story, there are no heroes here. Please take the author's note and content warning into consideration. This book is dark and graphic in nature, touching topics that may not be suitable for listeners under 18.

Enjoyable

I did enjoy the story, though I feel like there were parts that kind of rushed into one another. I also feel like the Readers could have done a better job changing up their voices for the different characters. But a great standalone to a story that could definitely stand for more

Unholy oh myyyyy 😳 check for trigger warnings

1st: check for trigger warnings if you have some!!

2nd: my review might have mild spoilers.

Is there such thing as too much smut? Lol! And like unholy, crazy smut.
I had high hopes for the storyline, which is intriguing. It lacked depth and believability in some areas, but the idea of the dystopian American world it’s set in is still very interesting! The “boys” in this story are pretty psycho. Sonny is really f’ed up, wow. Two of the three MMC’s get somewhat sweeter as the book progresses. As always, I question how crazy and corrupt a bunch of college students can actually be, but it’s a trope sooooo….
Romina, the FMC is a damaged, ptsd victim of neglect who has been shut in a bell tower for 18 years. And apparently she has a very dark side that these scary, sometimes abusive men bring out. There were two early sex scenes where I felt like Romina did not consent and she was basically sexually assaulted….yikes. I don’t have any real triggers but that made me squeamish. She did a LOT of questionable, stupid things but she is a very damaged, vulnerable and immature young woman. I wanted someone to help her with her trauma and empowerment. I think that was supposed to be Resa, the random girl friend, but her character was odd. Writing was excellent. The Satanic cult angle was very different, a bit hard to buy. Narrators were awesome! Corvin King’s voice is amazing, holy melt your panties off!!
Worth a credit if you like anti-church, smut for hours, morally grey MMC’s and a wild, dark ride!!!
