About this listen

Modern medicine is lying to you. Discover the true science behind chronic diseases—and implement an actionable plan to restore your health and longevity once and for all.

For the first time in history, chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity plague our population on a global scale. From a seasoned physician, this paradigm-shifting book comprehensively explains the linked cause of chronic diseases and exposes the misconceptions prevalent in modern medicine.

In Lies I Taught in Medical School, Robert Lufkin, MD, explains that metabolic dysfunction is the common underlying cause of most chronic diseases that has been overlooked for decades, providing the tools needed to prevent and reverse them in ourselves. He draws on expansive, peer-reviewed evidence, proving that standard medical recommendations are killing us.

Over the course of twelve illustrated chapters, Lies I Taught in Medical School chronicles how Dr. Lufkin reversed four chronic diseases in himself and expertly supplies the strategies needed to:

  • Reduce chronic disease risk factors, such as inflammation and insulin resistance
  • Stabilize mental health via nutrition and lifestyle
  • Improve diet and metabolism
  • Treat obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and other common chronic diseases
  • Get off unnecessary medications, including many diabetes and hypertension drugs

What’s more, Dr. Lufkin offers practical advice to show how lifestyle factors such as nutrition, sleep, exercise, and stress management can target the fundamental cause of chronic diseases. Lies I Taught in Medical School is a revolutionary and holistic guide that will help you take control of your health—before it’s too late.

Bonus features include a downloadable action plan for metabolic health and longevity, and a FREE membership in the Lies I Taught in Medical School online book club community.

Very good

This book kept my attention and I was able to listen to it all the way to the end over a few days. It was filled with useful, practical information to improve my health. I agree with most of the content and it reminded me of Metabolical by Dr Robert Lustig. I think if someone implements his suggestions they can markedly improve their health span and life span.

The only part I didn’t like was the last chapter that had a lot of advertisements for products and kept referring the reader to his web site slash recommended. There is also some companion program that he is selling.

Aside from the selling at the end, the book was perfect and I am definitely going to re-listen in order to absorb all the material. I highly recommend this book if you are interested in improving your health.

The narrator had a great voice and kept me engaged and interested.

Not the easiest to follow in Audible format

I am in the medical field but still found it hard to stay on track as I listened to this book, definitely better suited to being read. The constant 'refer to the PDF' really broke up the flow, and of course was not possible if I was driving or cooking, the usual times I listen to Audible. After listening to 8 hours of this, the main take I have is that it would be best to eat once a day, and mainly in the meat family.

Great, but lots of big words

Very informative and hard hitting book, I am making lifestyle long-term changes now. It's not like I haven't been hearing calls to stay away from carbs before, but this put all the eggs into one basket so to say.

There is also a tone of urgency which, if all this information is actually true, is helpful to make those changes. So I still need to keep learning about m-tor, metabolism, diabetes, etc., because no person, except for Jesus, can get everything right.

Now I'm sure Dr. Lufkin can't help it, but there are lots of technical terms in the book. Even if I cannot remember them on listening to the book once, you can still get the concepts quite well. I may need to get a printed copy so I can reference it and even lend it out.
