About this listen
Israel Ingham's life has never been easy. He grew up in a house devoid of love and warmth. Nothing he ever did was good enough. The fact that Israel is gay just added to the long list of his father's disappointments.
Then a letter from Eastport Children's Hospital changes everything.
A discovery is made, one of gross human error. Twenty-six years ago, two baby boys were switched at birth and sent home with the wrong families.
Sam, Israel's best friend, has been his only source of love and support. With Sam beside him every step of the way, Israel decides to meet his birth mother and her son, the man who lived the life Israel should have.
Israel and Sam become closer than ever, amidst the tumultuous emotions of meeting his birth family, and Sam finds himself questioning his feelings toward his best friend. As Israel embraces new possibilities, he needs to dissect his painful relationship with his parents in order to salvage what's left. Because sometimes it takes proof you're not actually family to become one.
Contains mature themes.

Unexpeced love
This is my 16th novel by NR this year. I love her writing style, and she always comes up with such unique storylines. And Switched is definitely unique.
At the heart, it’s a friends-to-lovers story but it’s set during a time Israel discovers that he had been switched at birth.
As he tries to process his emotions - relief, because he never felt like he belonged; happiness - about discovering a new family; sadness, fear…you name it - He has one person by his side the whole time. His best friend Sam.
It’s a confusing time. Especially when he starts to see Sam as more than just his best friend.
NR, as always, does a beautiful job of capturing all the emotions that follow these men. Israel is a kind and introspective man, coupled with Sam who is steady, thoughtful and loyal. They are quite lovely and fun together, and you’ll be cheering these two on, while also hoping for a happy resolution to the life-changing ‘human error’ that happened in the hospital.
Also worth noting, the audiobook is narrated by Joel Leslie, who is the perfect narrator for NR’s stories. He really is fantastic.
