About this listen

Secrets of the 80/20 Principle revealed!

Find your "critical 20%" and transform your time - and life - forever! The 80/20 principle - also known as the Pareto principle - is the well-verified observation that in business, economics, and life generally, about 80 percent of all results flow from a mere 20 percent of our efforts. In this thought-provoking and highly informative program, Richard Koch unveils the secrets to how this mysterious but practical principle actually works... how it is affecting your life right now... and how you can start using it to your advantage. You'll learn:

  • How to identify the critical 20% in every area of your life
  • How to give up the guilt of not working as hard as you think you're supposed to
  • Why "time management" is a counter-productive fallacy
  • The six things successful 80/20 practitioners do differently than you
  • How to make the 80/20 Principle work for you in your job, even when you don't have total control over your time
  • What the 80/20 Principle can teach you about who to hire
  • How to avoid dooming yourself to life as a wage slave
  • How the 80/20 principle can multiply your money
  • And much more!

The unspoken corollary of the 80/20 principle is that little of what you spend your time on actually enriches your life. But by concentrating instead on the few things that do matter, you can unlock the enormous potential of the critical 20 percent and multiply your happiness and fulfillment. When you learn how to systematically apply the 80/20 principle, you will finally have the power to transcend the pressures of modern life: to become more successful and to enjoy more leisure, serenity, and great relationships with friends and loved ones.

Interesting principle

Interesting book and principle.
Unfortunately the intro music cheapens the "feel" and makes the information feel dated.

Good! But what a random mix!

I struggled with the beginning of this book and couldn’t get into it, the middle though was where I found all the gems related to 80/20 that focused on business and really drove the points home that got through to me, However the later chapters lost me again, it’s not that it was bad content, it was good advice but it just seemed unrelated and so mixed material-wise. Like random stories about his friends, and applying 80/20 to raising kids and getting along with your spouse. It made the book super long and distracted from good business content. All the extras would have been better in a part 2.

But overall, I had some great aha! moments in the middle that made me feel like this was a worthwhile read and maybe even worth a second read (for some chapters).

Know how to read? To write ? To think 80/20?

Thinking 80/20 principle should in my opinion come as a basic skill for life since it’s always been a asi. management principle for companies to be applied for individuals / to do more with less : more productive with less stress etc …do yourself a favour : you won’t regret to read this as your first or your next read !

A great start on how to achieve true happiness

I enjoyed some of the content! the author knows what it means to be happy and how to go about achieving happiness. The 20/80 rule can truly work for everyone, but it's not the key to happiness. the key to happiness involves a few more things than the rule. overall, some pretty good stuff.
