Publisher's Summary

A decade ago, the Lullaby Man preyed upon young girls in Tallman's Valley. He stole into their lives, whispered in their ears, spoke of love.

Abby Wakeland was 14 then. Now 24, she's found the courage to tell her mother - Senior Detective Kate Wakeland - about what happened.

The Lullaby Man was her teacher.

What Abby reveals next will lead Kate down dark, twisting tunnels of discoveries that will blow this small town apart.

Get past the awful Scottish accent

Caroline Lee is an excellent narrator but she met her match trying (and failing) to pull off a Scots accent. Fortunately, that’s only during small portions of the book.

I really loved this!

Aside from the terrible Scottish accent the Narrator just could not do ... this was such a good mystery! I really like this main character in the series. I like the pacing and the narration is excellent aside from that tiny issue. Really liking Anni Taylor.

Edge of My Seat

I don't usually like thrillers this much. I like the intensity, but I can almost always guess what's going to happen to wrap the story up. Usually serial thrillers are the worst - it just gets boring after awhile.
Anni Taylor writes in a different way. I prefer her thrillers because it doesn't matter what happens during the story, you will never guess the end. The intensity from book to book is the same; it never gets boring. I also love that the protagonists are women - this is just such a breath of fresh air. And, the women or girls portrayed are so REAL. In parts I really thought that this could be real because the thoughts, feelings, and actions are so life-like. Each book will transport you to the exact place that the book takes place, even if you've never been. Anni is such an amazing story teller that you see and hear and feel everything the characters do. They are extensions of yourseIf. I can see how Anni Taylor wouldn't be for everyone. I can believe that some people wouldn't want to be so invested in a book that they can't eat or sleep for fear of missing one thing. I don't share that belief. It doesn't matter which book you pick up, each one is amazing.

Love this book series

I really enjoy this book series with Detective Kate. The narrator grows on you & this book wouldn’t be the same without the same narrator. The accents are over the top though. They don’t sound right. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Who cares about the Scottish accent

A brilliant book with an ending I didn’t see coming. Love this series.

I could care less about the accents
