About this listen

He's a player in more ways than one....

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hookups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he'll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he's worth a second chance. Now he's going to need to up his game....

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She's not a charity case, and she's not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He'll have to work for it. This time around, she'll be the one in the driver's seat, and she plans on driving him wild.

It definitely wasn’t a mistake to read this book.

It definitely wasn’t a mistake to read this book. I read ‘The Deal’ and absolutely loved it, so I was really excited to read ‘The Mistake’. I’m usually not one for second chance romances but I really enjoyed ‘The Mistake’.

Summary:
Hockey player John Logan is continuously sulking in his own self pity throughout the book, sulking about his dead end future and being “in love” with his best friends girl - not true he loves the idea of her that idea being the relationship her and his best friend have not really her herself, but I digress. But after he meets Grace and starts hanging out with her more he starts to second guess his motives and pushes her away. But Logan now knows what it is that he wants and he just wants to be with her, but Grace isn’t going to make it easy for him. Grace Ivers didn’t exactly have the best freshmen year, but she’s back and she’s not the same girl she was when Logan and her first hooked up, and she’s not going to roll over for Logan this time around, he’s going to have to work hard to be in her good graces again.

Characters:
Logan was charming and very witty, honestly his ‘wooing’ would of gotten to me and I would of probably forgave him right away, but I’m glad Grace made him work for it because seeing everything he was willing to do for her was just so sweet and romantic.
Grace I found to be a very relatable character for myself, the constant babbling and referring to herself as a babbler is the same thing as me being a yapper. But if I haven’t said it enough yet thank god she made Logan work for her attention, and I really enjoyed Graces level of maturity not holding grudges and not needing to share her personal life with anyone who would listen.

This book was funny and gave me butterflies would definitely recommend to a friend. 5/5 and I can’t wait to read ‘The Score’ next.

Lots of laughs

These two were cute together. It is a sweet young adult college romance. HEA guaranteed. Some angst, some groveling, some parental issues... (TW for kids of alcoholics.) Spicy scenes are decently spicy - but it's a slooooow burn.

Dorm life

I clearly remember my first year living in a dorm at school. Boy, do I ever wish a hot hockey player had knocked on my door accidentally, and stayed...

Love John Logan

I had originally read the book and it was my favourite so far in the off campus series. I was out off for a while by the audible reviews that rated the female lead, Grace, badly. Finally I caved and listened
Charming story. Lesson learnt! Reviews are for consideration. The best review is your own -
the female lead was okay and did not detract from the overall performances

Loved the story but...

Found that the female narrator kind of ruined this audiobook for me. Her voice and narration style just didn’t work for the character of Grace who sounded like a shallow unemotional airhead. I will avoid audiobooks with this female narrator in future

Heartfelt Redemption

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level: 🔥🔥✨

As a return reader to Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus series, diving into "The Mistake" for the second time, this audiobook experience added a new layer of depth to an already beloved story. Narrators Lorelei Avalon and Lee Samuels bring Grace and Logan to life in a way that truly captures the essence of their emotional journey.

Grace and Logan's story is a rollercoaster of emotions, with Logan's inner turmoil and Grace's newfound strength creating a captivating dynamic. It's heartwarming to witness Logan's transformation from a cocky hockey player to a man fighting for redemption and love. His dedication to completing Grace's heartfelt tasks is both sweet and endearing, melting hearts along the way.

Kennedy skillfully delves into Logan's internal struggles, portraying him as more than just a charming jock. His battle with self-worth and the consequences of his past mistakes adds depth to his character, making his journey towards redemption all the more satisfying.

While Logan's undeniable charm may have initially drawn readers in, it's his vulnerability and determination to win Grace back that truly steals the show. Grace, on the other hand, shines as a strong and independent heroine unwilling to settle for anything less than she deserves.

The chemistry between Grace and Logan sizzles, creating plenty of steamy moments that are sure to leave listeners blushing. However, it's the emotional connection between them that truly sets their romance apart.

Overall, "The Mistake" delivers a captivating story filled with heart, humor, and steamy romance. Fans of the Off-Campus series won't be disappointed as they follow Logan and Grace on their journey towards love and redemption.

Worst female voice ever

Literally the worst female voice. Like so bad. If this is someone’s actual voice, why the fuck did they get into narrating. I would hate just talking to this person. Who chose this person. Literally ruined the whole novel. Most punchable voice. Male voice is good though.

Bad Characters

Was not a fan. The characters were not well developed at all and the reasons they did things didn't make sense.

Worst narration ever

She’s supposed to be a teenage girl? She sounds tired and geriatric. It sounds like a woman reading her granddaughters diary.

Story was alright! I love John Logan.
