About this listen
Dazzling space battles, intergalactic politics, and rogue AI collide in Velocity Weapon, the first book in this epic space opera by award-winning author Megan O'Keefe.
Sanda and Biran Greeve were siblings destined for greatness. A high-flying sergeant, Sanda has the skills to take down any enemy combatant. Biran is a savvy politician who aims to use his new political position to prevent conflict from escalating to total destruction.
However, on a routine maneuver, Sanda loses consciousness when her gunship is blown out of the sky. Instead of finding herself in friendly hands, she awakens 230 years later on a deserted enemy warship controlled by an AI who calls himself Bero. The war is lost. The star system is dead. Ada Prime and its rival Icarion have wiped each other from the universe.
Now, separated by time and space, Sanda and Biran must fight to put things right.

Invaders threaten the star cluster, attacking our fringe settlements. Captain Bill Gorman has mysteriously disappeared. Story
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Story
Few know the warship’s actual name. But everyone has heard the rumors. The PUV James Keeling can do something no other vessel in existence can do—slip into another dimension, travel undetected, then re-emerge onto our plane and surprise enemy targets. But the thing that makes the Crypt unique also makes it a nightmare for those onboard; interdimensional travel causes hallucinations, violent behavior, and psychotic breakdowns. Keeling could be the Union’s greatest weapon, a game-changing asset that can defeat the bloodthirsty zealots of the Purist Nation, the Union’s mortal enemy.

I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH!
This series is AMAZING! I just binged book 1 & 2 in only a day and a half, that's how hooked this series had me. Book one is great and I kept having to pick my jaw up off the floor at all the wild twists and turns but that's cranked up many notches in the sequel. I finished Chaos Vector a few moments ago and I have to say, this is some of the best SciFi I've ever read! I need to gather my thoughts and film a YouTube video about this series first thing tomorrow morning. If you're a fan of The Expanse, there's basically no way that you'll rate this book anything less than 4★ minimum.
This book has all the great hallmarks of an epic space opera! I truly cannot recommend it enough. Just give it a try if you're on the fence and I guarantee you'll immediately be hooked.
Pay no heed to the review saying the "forced PC content" hurts the book. I literally didn't even know what they were talking about for the majority of the book. We follow 3 POV in this book. The two siblings Sanda and Biran, as well as a third character who runs heists in another star system. The woman of this 3rd POV is minor in comparison and the "horrible PC content" is simply a small non binary side character named Arden that she interacts with a bit. The fact that someone complained over suuuch a tiny aspect of the book and happened to be offended that Arden doesn't like gendered pronouns, it's honestly kind of sad and I think it says a lot about this person that the tiniest smidge of NB representation drove them up insane.

Very good start to a new series
It's a bit long to get started by as you get towards the end the story gets more gripping and you can't drop the book anymore.
Very good start to a series by young author. Fans of The Expanse will find familiarity there.
