About this listen

The official prequel leading into the upcoming Aliens cooperative third-person survival shooter video game, Aliens: Fireteam, from Cold Iron Studios.

Dr. Timothy Hoenikker arrives on Pala Station, a Weyland-Yutani facility. Lured there by the promise of alien artifacts, instead he finds a warped bureaucracy and staff of misfits testing the effects of Xenomorph bio-materials on living creatures. Unbeknownst to the personnel, however, there is an infiltrator among them whose actions could spell disaster.

Also on staff is Victor Rawlings, a former marine who gathers together other veterans to prepare for the worst. As the personnel receive a delivery of alien eggs, the experiments spin out of control, and only the former Colonial Marines can stand between the humans and certain death.

satisfied

I was in the space action, and this was satisfying. It's not great art but that's not the expectation. The reader is very good. I think he read Matterhorn, which I liked (a Vietnam War novel.) I am also listening to prepare to play the Colonial Marines video game for Xbox, it was nice that this book was free with membership if you're in the mood for aliens go for it

A surprisingly refreshing take on the Alien franchise.

This might be my favorite Alien novel so far. It has all of the tropes and beats you expect, but it tells a somewhat more human story than most. It's great as a lead-up to the Fireteam Elite game, as well. Not a perfect story, by any means, but a very solid addition to the franchise.

Masterful production!

Bronson Pinchot did a great job narrating this book. It had a solid storyline and characters. I really enjoyed the exploration of themes like culpability, responsibility, scientific hubris, self reflection and transformation. 6/5 stars!

A must if you play Aliens:fireteams

Great prequel to the video game absolutely fills in some of the lore blanks. I thought the narrator was good although his female voices were weak, but that's not super surprising or unexpected. The story was a lot of fun and for extra credit you can try to count how many times they say "Colonial Marines".

SO GOOD!…. until the ending.

Awesome, original premise.
“What does it look like to work for WY Corp if they DID get their hands on an alien for experiments”

Halfway through, there were no real main characters which is the bane of all Alien sequels.
Then you start liking and getting to know a few.

Then it got good until the last 2 min. Adding an extra, not needed twist. Ended so abruptly. Leaving readers unsatisfied.

Every book and movie has been the same. This one is different. I’m great full for it. Hope you it as much as I did.

Fun Alien Story. Incredibly Gloomy.

"I've never seen a xenomorph. Are they really that bad?"
"Think of the worst nightmare creature you can imagine. A xenomorph will eat that."

I completely adore the whole Alien(TM) monster concept: a SciFi Horror scenario that can easily carry a plot.
Somewhat unfortunately, Horror writer Weston Osche uses the xenomorph as a means for punishment in an incredibly pessimistic tale about flawed human researchers working on the organism (and other nightmarish species) as a bioweapon.. and their former colonial marines rent-a-cop guards. Osche's vocabulary/prose is capable, his plotting is commendable, his sense of suspense and mood-building is excellent, and the gore is mind's-eye vivid... but I was a little bit disappointed in the meta-plot and scientist-directed creature mutation directions he chose to go.

As to presentation: I have definitely heard better from reader Bronson Pinchot, but his performance on this project is typically outstanding. He is one of my favorite SAG-AFTRA-licensed narrators.

Altogether, 'Aliens: Infiltrator' rates 7 stars out of 10. It was a great selection from the 'Plus' menu, but there are better Alien options available for your Credit.

One of the best Aliens so far

More than your usual cat and mouse. I've read a bunch so far and this one is on top?
