About this listen
Bloomsbury presents Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, read by Elizabeth Evans.
Never trust an assassin.
Celaena’s story continues in this second book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.
Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become the King’s Champion. But she is far from loyal to the crown. Though she goes to great lengths to hide her secret, her deadly charade becomes more difficult when she realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. Her search for answers ensnares those closest to her, and no one is safe from suspicion—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a princess with a rebel heart.
Then, one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie . . . and what she is willing to fight for.
The second book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series returns listeners to a land destroyed by liars, where one woman’s truth is the only thing that can save them all.

Story
They say never bargain with the fae. They also say don’t get drunk on fae wine. Yet romance author Edwina Danforth has managed a blunder with both on her first visit to the infamous faelands. Now she's trapped in a magic-fueled bet she barely remembers with a man she’d be happier to forget. The terms? Whoever can bed the most lovers during their month-long dueling book tour wins a coveted publishing contract. The win should be easy for Edwina. She’s known for penning scintillating tales of whirlwind romance. There’s just one problem: her imagination vastly exceeds her bedroom experience.

Story
Just hours after humans are born, the gods take what little power we have. In return, they protect our borders from the vicious, merciless fae. The humans who manage to keep their power are known as the corrupt. And they are burned. When my forbidden power is discovered, I’m forced to flee my tiny village and the life I adore. To survive, I make a desperate bargain with the mercenary who abandoned me at my weakest moment. Our deal is simple: I’ll help him and his mysterious friends sneak into the city, and he’ll help me learn to wield the strange, dark power I’ve always kept hidden.

Story is good
I don't know if they did a do over for the recording. The source I had before was the same voice and had a more animated voice for Calaena. Now its emotionless and sounds like Miley Cyrus reading it.

Rousing YA fantasy
The predictable plot points were interspersed with a few good twists to keep it all the more engaging to the end. The characters definitely get more depth in this one. Can't wait to read the next.

Narrator needs to be replaced
The male voices (Dorian especially) are just horrid. Someone like Stina Neilson would do this justice.

OH MY GOD
such a great book. just finished so much I have to say. first amazing story I love the twists and turns this book has. at first when I saw how many books the series has I thought that the books probably drag out a lot but they do not. I completely understand now why there is so many books. and secondly I think I have to add this series to being one of my new favorites. I wish I could say more but spoilers be damned.

Better than the first book
This one was really good in my opinion, the MC is way more badass than in the first book. I like the little romance too. For the performance, it was not as bad as the first book but I think I just got use to it at this point. Anyway, jumping straight to the next book!
