From tuberculosis to bird flu and HIV to coronavirus, these infectious diseases share a common origin story: Human interaction with animals. Otherwise known as zoonotic diseases for their passage from animals to humans, these pathogens - both pre-existing ones and those newly identified - emerge and re-emerge throughout history, sparking epidemics and pandemics that have resulted in millions of deaths around the world. How did these diseases come about? And what - if anything - can we do to stop them and their fatal march into our countries, our homes, and our bodies?

Best book to get you on track.
With so much confusing and conflicting information out there, from influencers, bloggers ect who think they know what they are talking about. This books sets the record straight in so many ways. I was lost and confused and now I feel like I have the correct knowledge on how to move forward and live my healthiest life. I also visit nutritionfacts.org quite frequently to stay up to date with the information. I just bought the how not to diet cookbook (released today)and I also have the how not to die cookbook. Dr Greger is in this to truly help us and I trust him fully. I am very grateful for all of the free resources he provides as well. I highly recommend all of his books.

Loved the facts - a real life changer
A long listen that is well worth it. The shear number of citations is more research that I would do or begin to understand in a life time. The fact is that eating is necessary to live so why not learn how to live the healthiest way possible. I’m thankful for this work. Here’s to the remainder of my life being made up of educated daily choices.

Powerful information
Dr. Gregor has a lot of intonation in his voice that add humour and sarcasm to the audio which makes a non fiction book so much more enjoyable. Having said that, I will still want the hard copy, to highlight, for quick reference.

The information provided in this comprehensive and quite balanced tome by Dr. Greger is excellent, but he needs to find another presenter to read it! His droning, drawling voice is close to unbearable. I had to listen to it at 1.5x speed just to make it through.

Hands down the best book on diet and weight loss
I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Greger’s narration of How Not to Diet, which is an invaluable companion to his early book, How Not to Die. His passion for health and helping others clearly comes through.
It amazing to listen to a diet book that is so thoroughly grounded in the peer reviewed medical literature and where you know there is no ulterior profit motive since 100% of the proceeds go to charity.
Dr. Greger’s tour through all things related to obesity, diet and lifelong health is insightful, immediately actionable and even entertaining. I could not recommend this book more highly for anyone looking to take control of their weight and, more importantly, their long term physical, mental and emotional health.
