About this listen
A private server. A digital playground. An alliance of the world's most sadistic, most depraved minds. A place to bring their prey, to hone their skills.
Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon. Survival horror. One of the most brutal, most terrifying full-immersion games ever made. A place where fantasy characters such as elves and dwarves clash with technology, where giant monsters roam the hills, entrusted with protecting the gates of heaven from the demons who would tear it all down.
A game where one plays the last of the battlefield surgeons: a healer tasked with keeping the behemoths alive at all costs.
But on this server, they don't care about the game. That's not why they're here. They've come because of the game's most unique feature: full pain. Realistic anatomy. The ability to bring their victims well beyond the body's normal breaking point. And most importantly, the ability to bring them back and do it all over again.
Trapped in a bloody, merciless nightmare, Duke only has one goal: to survive. And in order to survive, he must play the game. He must win the game. And to do that, he must become the most cruel, most ruthless monster of them all.

For over 30 years, Dominion of Blades has been the hottest online role-playing game in the world. Jonah wakes to find himself in-game, level one, with no memory of how he arrived and no way to eject. A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

The usual result of a human taking a runaway semitruck head-on is a very sudden, very fast track to the pearly gates. But for one newly noncorporeal man, there's another option: become a dungeon. Feeling sorry for the desperate angel assigned to him, the man relents. Heck, if it doesn't work out, he can always chat with Saint Peter about it later. Next thing you know, he's a dungeon. Admittedly, a small run-down, somewhat unimpressive dungeon (more of a house, actually), but you gotta start somewhere, right?

The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

A Secret Service operative and dedicated survivalist, Special Agent Del Roosevelt had a plan for every world-ending scenario and regularly trained for them all. He was even ready for a date with the hottest woman in his office next Friday. At least he hoped so. But all that training, all those rations, all that prepping? Useless for the apocalypse that actually played out. Del wakes up half-buried in a giant trash pile, missing his thumbs. And, um, covered in red fur. He's stuck in a world of fuzzy monsters, senseless violence, and cult-like crusaders.

I have a hard time believing this is from the same author of Dungeon Crawler Carl. Maybe it was the performance that turned me off. I really wanted to like it, but I just have no interest in continuing it.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is rad though.

so good it made me physically sick
This book is so good iT made me physically sick.
So there is the guy named Matt Dinniman. I have collected all of his, Dungeon crawler, Carl, series. Very much looking forward to the next book in the series.
I thought I would check out other books he has written. Well that can I say, Kaiju Battlefield Surgeon, is like Osmosis Joe meats, House meats, Grey's Anatomy, meats WTF.
I mean it when I say that is some incredible writing when not only did I become enveloped in the story and charters. It also made me physically sick. Well done that is some F$<ked up S&×t.

Too much, this is too much
I really have liked Matt Dinniman’s Dungeon Crawler Carl books that can be dark but with huge laughs, and the darkness. But this was just a shade too dark for me. It starts as torture porn, ends like the movie seven (with everyone disturbed) and along the way there there are just moments so dark and bleak that I had to walk away.
It is well written, just not my jam…

dark as F$%k
Holy crap. It was a good book, not one of my normal books but I like some of his other work and it was on sale. that ending was dark, the whole story was dark. like three body problem dark. but on a more viral level. good book, though, like grave of the fireflies, I will not be listening again.

Read before purchase
A warning to fellow litRPG fans who've read Dungeon Crawler Carl and are looking for more fun; this book is VERY heavy on torture, mutilation, trauma and gore. Like, very close to unreadably heavy in my case, and I've been on the internet for 28 years. This is a LOT. Well written, beautifully read, cool mechanics, but pretty much a 20 hour long Suehiro Maruo Manga come to life. Be warned.

Good story, the narrator is awful
Weird story, but very well told, I almost stopped listening because the narrator was awful at first, I soon grew to not be bothered by his tone or almost robotic voice, fantastic ending
