Publisher's Summary

Number-one New York Times best-seller.

A Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine Book Club pick. “Get ready to be swept up in a whirlwind romance. It absolutely charmed me.” (Reese Witherspoon)

“Josie Silver writes with a warmth so palpable her characters sneak their way into your heart and stay for a long time.” (Jill Santopolo, New York Times best-selling author of The Light We Lost, a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick)

Two people. Ten chances. One unforgettable love story.

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away.

Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend, Sarah, giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It's Jack, the man from the bus. It would be.

What follows for Laurie, Sarah, and Jack is 10 years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming, and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.

My brain and ears are bleeding...

Waste of time. Such a sappy overly-dragged love story. I am 20 years older than when I started this book. No substance, no characters, no story.. just cliches ever pursuing some sort of twist. And it’s stereotyping women as weak and men as neanderthal pigs. Not worth the money!

I’m screaming !

I listen to audible on the bus ride to and from work. This book is so funny that I find myself laughing on the bus and screaming the F*** for every twist and turns. I got so into this book that I sheared a tear in the end because how good it was. I know lame but yeah. Worth the 1 credit each month.

Don’t do it!

The male man character is always angry, abrasive and crude.
The 2 female characters are juvenile whiners. Really painful.
Might be ok if your 15 years old.

Easy, enjoyable listen.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a bit prolonged but mostly because of some unexpected twists along the way which I guess is what made it decent listen. I enjoyed the use of a female and male narrator as I think that made a huge impact on the story and it's possible that the audible version is better than the actual book.

beautiful, couldn't stop listening

It's a beautiful story about love, the messiness of life and missed opportunities. I couldn't stop listening. I finished it in two days. It was so well written, really pulling you into the emotions of the characters. I was unsure how it'd play out over such a spam of time, but it was done beautifully. Worth listening to for sure.

Not enough romance

The voice actors did a good job in this audiobook. I liked that the plot wasn't a typical rom-com, but you didn't get enough romance with the main characters.

A Story of Love, Loss, and Second Chances

When I purchased this audiobook, I thought I was going to be in for a light-hearted, romantic Christmas RomCom. One Day in December is so much more than that. Yes, it is a sweet love story that spans a decade, but it is also a book about the changing nature of friendships, family, loyalty, and following one’s heart.

I loved the characters of Jack and Laurie; they were SO destined to end up together. But all of the characters in the novel were layered and believable and Josie Silver tells a story with the perfect amount of detail, dialogue, backstory, and foreshadowing.

This is my second Josie Silver book,. And while I am MUCH older than the targeted demographic for this type of story, I still found it engaging, authentic, and completely charming. Yep, I will be reading/listening to tall of Ms Silver's books.

P.S. If you want a feel good Christmas-ish story to read over the holidays, I highly recommend this one. It’s as captivating as Love, Actually, but with a LOT less cheese.
Five BIG stars.
