About this listen

Three bodies in a beautiful and luxurious bedroom.

Billy Harney was born to be a cop. The son of Chicago's chief of detectives, whose twin sister is also on the force, Billy plays it by the book. Alongside Detective Kate Fenton, Billy's tempestuous, adrenaline-junkie partner, there's nothing he wouldn't sacrifice for his job. Enter Amy Lentini, a hard-charging assistant state's attorney hell-bent on making a name for herself - who suspects Billy isn't the cop he claims to be. They're about to be linked by more than their careers.

One missing black book.

A horrifying murder leads investigators to an unexpected address - an exclusive brothel that caters to Chicago's most powerful citizens. There's plenty of incriminating evidence on the scene - but what matters most is what's missing: the madam's black book. Now shock waves are rippling through the city's elite, and everyone's desperate to find it.

Chicago has never been more dangerous.

As everyone who's anyone in Chicago scrambles to get their hands on the elusive black book, no one's motives can be trusted. An ingenious, inventive thriller about power, corruption, and the power of secrets to scandalize a city - and possibly destroy a family - The Black Book is James Patterson at his best.

Intriguing read

Amazing and intriguing story. I read it in 2 days and normally it takes me months if not longer to read a book. This book grabs you from the very first chapter

Confused by ending

If I had read this story first I would have enjoyed it more, however, I read the prequels and now I’m totally confused. The 2 prequels have similar storylines/plots with similar outcomes and unless each story is taking place in a different universe then the then outcomes can’t be the same. I’m trying not to give any spoilers but there is no way the brother and sister could be this naive if either of the other two stories had already happened.

Loved the story. Great performance. good twist

could see some things that seemed obvious that the character didn't get but a good twist at the end made it out a great see sorry with more depth than originally thought

Kept me locked in every night!

Twists n turns are the best! You really got a great picture of the characters. Patterson does it again.

Better than most Pattersons

I was expecting less in terms of plot development and characterization and found that I was enjoying the book and the reader very much. Typically, I only listen to my audio books in the car and I found myself listening while doing odd jobs around the house too.

Surprised!

I love this genre and have read a ton of James Patterson, some are just ok, some are good, but always entertaining enough. This one was great! One of the best from him, in my opinion. The plot was complex and a real page turner. You think you know, but there are twists. I’ve already purchased Red Book, the follow up!

Great book.

Recommend. Good story, great reader. Part 2 is just as good so you should read both.
