Publisher's Summary

"Ken Follett has done it once more...goes down with the ease and impact of a well-prepared martini." (New York Times Book Review)

His name was Feliks. He came to London to commit a murder that would change history. A master manipulator, he had many weapons at his command, but against him were ranged the whole of the English police, a brilliant and powerful lord, and the young Winston Churchill himself. These odds would have stopped any man in the world - except the man from St. Petersburg.

Good study, great narrator

I got this book because it’s narrated by my favourite narrator, Richard Armitage, and of course he does a stellar job.
The story itself was also quite enjoyable.

Brilliant

This exciting page turner is made even better by Richard Armitage. Richard could read the phone directory and I’d listen. The fact that he read this classic Follett book was icing on this fictional cake.

The ending a bit weak but overall a good storyline.

Enjoyed the book however the ending was a bit weak. Still recommend the book as I enjoy the detail provided by the author of the life and customs of the time period.

Too long

The base of this story was interesting and kept my attention most of the time. However, at times I felt my attention slipping because of a lot of repetition and unnecessary additions to the storyline. It could have been a 5 star novel without all that.
Richard Armitage’s feel for the characters and wonderful use of various accents were spot on and I think I continued on with this novel only to hear his rich baritone voice.

Pretty okay

Definitely the worst so far from Follet. The story is very predictable and far fetched. Not very believable at all.
But it’s a okay love story with a very good narrator.

ANOTHER FOLLETT SUCCESS!

Great book by Follet, drawing once again on history. The characters were well developed and believable. I enjoyed discovering there were actually things to like about Feliks despite his mission. In war, and even in life, it is possible that people who do bad things are not all bad at their core and I enjoyed the humanity Follett showed in this. I loved the story and Richard Armitage is an amazing narrator bringing life to these stories!
